Day 1: MARRAKESH to TODRA GORGES

Todra Gorge You are met at your airport or hotel in Morocco to begin your travels along the Kasbah route- part of the Trans Sahara Camel Caravan Route- to the desert passing through the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Stop to stretch your legs at the Tichka Pass or stop for photos in these majestic Morocco Mountains. Lunch not included. Accommodations at a Moderate hotel in the Todra Gorge Valley alongside the river. Dinner and Breakfast included. Watch the animals come for a drink in the am.

Day 2: TODRA GORGES to MERZOUGA SAHARA DUNES

Continue towards the Sahara Desert passing through Berber villages. Lunch enroute not included. Just outside Erfoud in early afternoon, you meet your camel in the black desert near the fossil beds. You will be able to look for fossils in the ground with the Moroccan mountains in the background. First night of your Morocco Camel Adventure is spent under 1000 and 1 stars by a spring in this area.

Day 3: MERZOUGA SAND DUNES

You head out towards the sand dunes. Night is spent at Tisserdimine Oasis. Remember the camels walk slower in the sand dunes than on the hard dirt!

Day 4: MERZOUGA SAND DUNES

In the sand dunes, you look for nomads. Perhaps you share a meal with them or share their tents. Night is spent deeper in the Morocco sand dunes.

Day 5: MERZOUGA SAND DUNES

You travel south and spend the night in an oasis in the sand dunes. The camels traverse the dunes like people ski when going down hill.

Day 6: MERZOUGA SAND DUNES

You pass near Merzouga to see the lake that is known to have flamingos. This is again black desert and hard piste. You check out the mines where lead crystals (not Waterford) lie on the ground but these lead mines are no longer functional.

Day 7: HAVEN LA CHANCE DESERT HOTEL

Pass through Merzouga on your way to "Haven La Chance". This is our home base in Morocco. SHOWERS AND TOILETS and where you shall spend your last night under the stars or inside our little hotel. Here you say goodbye to the camels.

Day 8: MERZOUGA to OUARZAZATE

In the morning, visit the village and oasis of Merzouga and meet some family members as you venture back into civilization. Perhaps have lunch with them before you leave after visiting the Berber cooperative where the local Berber women bring their woven rugs. You begin your travel back towards Marrakech, Morocco stopping at a nice 3* hotel in Ouarzazate. Dinner and Breakfast.

Day 9: OUARZAZATE to MARRAKESH

Continue through the High Atlas Mountainside to Marrakech, Morocco reflecting on your Camel Adventures in the Sahara Desert of Morocco! No hotel arrangements included but can be arranged at your request.

IMPORTANT DETAILS

Moderate, clean hotel in Todra Gorge and Ouarzazate. All meals in the desert and 8 dinners. 6 nights with camels traversing the dunes and returning to Haven La Chance Desert Hotel. Transportation is a comfortable 4 x 4 or SUV vehicle with an English-speaking driver who is your overall guide to and from the desert. He shall point out sites along the way. Not included are tips, alcoholic drinks or travel Insurance that is required.
